Every month, we survey our community members to understand what’s top-of-mind for RV owners across the country. May 2026’s survey drew 847 responses — our biggest month ever — and the results were both surprising and deeply actionable. Here’s what you told us.
Top Concern: Water Intrusion (by a Wide Margin)
When asked “What is your single biggest worry about your RV’s condition?” 61% of respondents said water intrusion through the roof — more than all other concerns combined. The runner-up, tire blowouts, was cited by just 14% of members. This tracks perfectly with industry data: water damage is the most common and most expensive RV repair category, year after year. Our 2026 industry report puts the numbers in broader context.
The DIY vs. Pro Divide
We asked: “When it comes to roof maintenance and repair, are you primarily a DIYer, primarily a professional-services user, or somewhere in between?” Results:
- 27% — Primarily DIY
- 31% — Primarily professional services
- 42% — Mixed approach (DIY for maintenance, professional for repairs)
The 42% mixed-approach majority represents exactly the mindset we try to support. Knowing what to DIY and what to leave to professionals is one of the most valuable skills an RV owner can develop.
Coating Adoption Trends
We asked members about their current roof protection status:
- 34% — Have a polyurea or professional coating
- 28% — Rely on manufacturer original membrane with regular maintenance
- 22% — Use DIY liquid rubber or lap sealant
- 16% — Not sure what type of protection they have

Community Engagement Highlights
The May survey also revealed how our community members are engaging with our resources:
- 78% have attended at least one virtual meeting or webinar in the past 6 months
- 65% have used the applicator directory to find or verify a service provider
- 52% have referred at least one other RV owner to our community
- 41% participate actively in the monthly community meetings
These numbers fuel our commitment to running the best possible events calendar and keeping our community space vibrant and useful.
What You Want More Of
When asked what content you want more of, the top three answers were:
- Regional maintenance tips (climate-specific advice)
- Real member stories and case studies
- Technical deep dives on products and chemistry
